My Port Townsend – A City in Photographs

Faded Glory

photo of over ripe tulip

Past it's sell by date

I’ve been watching the tulips as they start to whither. I haven’t really payed a lot of attention to this part of the cycle before. Even though the flowers are way past fresh, they still have an odd beauty.

Red Hot Stop Sign

That sign is too hot to handle

I didn’t know that stop signs could get so hot that they needed pot holders. Apparently this one does.

Moon on the Wire

Cats in the cradle and the silver moon

The moon can look so huge when it arises, as if it could fill half the sky. The camera tells another tale. When we take photos we lose the optical illusion of the big orb in the sky. Knowing that, I often don’t shoot and lose the lovely huge moon effect.

Chive Blossoms

Spicy buds

I know that I’ve posted chive flowers before. I probably will again. Even though they are not considered beautiful blossoms, I do love them. They taste good, too.

Water Street – The Real Reason for the Name

The real reason for Water Street's Name

And all this time I thought that Port Townsend’s Water Street was so named because it sits next to the docks and Port Townsend Bay. Here is the new truth. Water Street is itself water based. What we learn if we stay in a place long enough. An alternative name for this photo might be Undertown underwater. That’s a story for another day.
