Forest trail in Old Fort Townsend State Park
Fort Townsend State Park was on Washington’s closure list, a victim of the state’s budget woes. It survived this year, which I fully appreciate. The park has some of my favorite hiking trails close to Port Townsend. With the wealth of wonderful places nearby I know I shouldn’t complain if this is its last year in operation. Still, a favorite is a favorite.

NO comments on this yet??!! It’s gorgeous! I love the color shadings and particularly love the shadowy trees in the far back of the photo…draws me waaay in. We love Ft. Townsend trails too. Have you seen the old, unofficial pet cemetary on the way in? So touching.

Thanks for mentioning the pet cemetery. We used it for our dog’s ashes.

What a beautiful path! I would love doing some exploration there.
