Coffee Corner
When you have a 400 square foot house, space is limited, and you have to make some serious choices about what kind of stuff to keep. For me, good coffee is important. You might even call it a fetish.
Except for the jar of sea salt above the stove, everything you see is involved in making coffee. The device between the kettle and the burr grinder is a roaster for turning green coffee beans into the dark brown ingredient I brew. The odd tubes above the stove are the components of my AeroPress coffee maker. I also have a vacuum pot in a drawer that I use for some coffees. A shelf in one cupboard is filled with bags of green coffee. Yeah, I like coffee.

Ah, it makes me smile that you love coffee, too. Where do you get your green beans from? Do you always roast your own? I have never tried an AeroPress (I’m a French Press gal), but have heard they’re terrific.

Isn’t coffee what life’s about? I go through stages where I use the AeroPress, then I’ll get on a french press or vacuum pot kick. It goes in cycles.
AeroPress coffee tastes like an americano. With an earthy coffee, I prefer the french press. With a lighter roast the vacuum pot does a better job of highlighting the subtleties of the bean. That sounds a little pretentious, but fresh roasted coffee does have more complex flavors that what we normally get pre-roasted.
I do roast most of my coffee. I get the beans from sweetmarials.com. It’s run by true coffee lovers who do a wonderful job of describing their beans and suggesting roast levels.
