Miranda and Prospero in the Tempest

Miranda and Prospero in Key City Public Theater's The Tempest

Tomorrow is the opening night of Key City Public Theater’s Theater in the Park production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. The play will be performed in Port Townsend’s Chetzemoka Park.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to see a high budget staging of Vancouver’s Bard on the Beach’s version of Much Ado About Nothing. As I expected of such a high profile theater company, it was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised to find that our local community theater stands up well in comparison. The costuming and staging are certainly lower budget but the acting is of good caliber.  Even though I got to shoot the dress rehearsal, I’m looking forward to being able to sit back and enjoy the play.

General admission: Suggested donation of $18 (Fri & Sat); $15 (Sun).
Students: Suggested donation of $10 at all shows.
