The Barn Next Door
I’ve been working this barn for a couple of years. There’s always something new.
Not quite our yard, but the empty lot next door. K seeded the lot with lots of flower seeds. Mostly the grass has taken over, but we still get some Flander’s poppies coming up.
Give me enough photos and I’ll start getting arty. The early morning light and spotty cloud cover gave some interesting lighting, which works well in black and white.
Thinking about my new camera I had all sorts of plans about what I wanted to photograph. Now that it’s here, what I want to shoot is mostly our garden. I love watching bees as they flit from flower to flower. They seem to be slightly more attracted to purple flowers than other colors. At least purple flowers are where I usually find them at work.
This particular flower is a volunteer. That’s one of the really great aspects of nigella. It self seeds all over. With some flowers, that’s a problem but nigella isn’t aggressive. When my DSLR broke in the spring. I sent it in for repairs. Unfortunately, it’s an older camera and parts are not as quick to ship as I hoped. The camera is still in the shop three months later. My bad for dropping the camera. Bad on Pentax for not giving an estimated ship date [...]
