Hay Time in Chinese Gardens

Last week was sunny and warm, the perfect weather to bring local hay and straw fields to harvest point. While the obvious place to see cut fields would seem to be out Chimacum way, the Chinese Gardens in Fort Worden State Park got their cutting too.

Failing Fern Fronds

This was taken during a photography workshop that Keith Lazelle gave to the Port Townsend Photo Club on Saturday. Keith is a superb nature photographer who has done a lot of photography for The Nature Conservancy and other organizations and businesses. It’s going to take some time to absorb all the material he covered.

Islands in the Sand

The retreating tide left these wonderful sand islands along the beach, between which the water trickled out.

Moving Driftwood

It is probably impossible to let boys loose on a beach and expect driftwood to stay in place. These guys were part of a school field trip from the Shoreline School District, near Seattle. They were loosed on the beach at Fort Worden.

May Day Motorcycling

May 1st, Reverend Pamela Douglas-Smith, minister of the Unity Church of Port Townsend, had a ceremony out on Point Wilson, in Fort Worden, during which she blessed the  motorcycles of a number of  local riders.
