Photos of My Port Townsend

Port Townsend’s Wooden Boat Festival was a lot of fun this year. Some of the participants not only dressed up their boats but took personal presentation to a new level. I particularly enjoyed this woman’s pirate get-up.

The 34th annual Wooden Boat Festival is on this weekend in Port Townsend. A number of boaters sail or motor up for the show, as you can see in the background. The Festival takes over the east end of town, from the Northwest Maritime Center, pictured here through all of Point Hudson.

With Fort Worden Conference Center, Centrum and the Northwest Maritime Center between them hosting something almost every weekend of the summer, we have tourists here every weekend attending something. Tomorrow is the opening night of Key City Public Theater’s Theater in the Park production of Shakespeare’s The Tempest. The play will be performed in Port Townsend’s Chetzemoka Park. Chetzamoka Park was the place to be in Port Townsend on Sunday afternoon. Hundreds of people gathered there to hear a concert by the Port Townsend Summer Band. People gathered in layers. The retired crowd brought chairs and sat in front. Families tended to spread out in the shade with picnics.
