After the Holiday

Our neighbors north of the border celebrate Boxing Day, on December 26. In Washington, we only have the day after Christmas. There were shoppers in Downtown Port Townsend, but there was none of the holiday energy in the air. Returns and bargain hunting don’t offer the excitement of getting gifts. Hand Work Studio

A new craft and art studio recently opened on the corner of Hastings and 29th Streets, Hand Work Studio. I’ve driven by the corner many times and watched the new owners turn an old mechanic’s garage into a place for craft classes. The studio opened in December. I love the sign. It’s rusted steel. Undertown Christmas Lights

The Undertown is a nice place to warm up after doing Christmas shopping. The place always does nice holiday decorations in the tunnel leading to the entry. Click photo for larger view.

7 Cedars Christmas Lights

7 Cedars Casino Resort is run by the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe. The Casino is about a half hour west of Port Townsend on US Highway 101. Free Books

William James Bookseller features used books. On Mondays and Thursdays Jim, the owner, buys used books. Many of the books he doesn’t want end up in front of the store and are available for free. This Monday ended up producing a lot of rejects for the free boxes. Click photo for larger view.

Park Different

Okay, so the title for this post is grammatically incorrect. It gets the point across. If you have a motor scooter take advantage of its small size. This is the parking lot beside the Port Townsend Leader building. Click photo for larger view.
