Male Gorilla at Woodland Park Zoo
This male Western Lowland Gorilla (named Pete) is munching on a tree branch. He seemed satisfied with chewing on the wood. There were no leaves to eat. Two separate groups of gorillas live in separate enclosures. Each group has one adult male and several females.
The Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle proved a wonderful place to visit. It’s been on our list for months. However, we don’t find it easy to take the full day it requires to see anything in Seattle. Yesterday we finally made the trip. It was worth it.

There is something a little sad about seeing this magnificent animal sitting in a barren pen. I have to remember that he is part of an effort to preserve the species. In any case he is quite handsome and your photograph is excellent. I have never seen one of these fellows.

I love love LOVE the gorillas! Pete and Vip are the dominant males. Pete has a short temper but acts on what gorillas know. If you show both your top and bottom teeth it means agression in their language and when people laugh that’s what he thinks. Gosh he’s quite a handsome gorilla lol. I too prefer them to be free but since they’re in dangered, it’s best for them to be in zoos…I guess…well anyways, nice pic! :D
