Many photographers search the world for their shots and provide us with the thrill of vicarious travel. I certainly take a camera along when I travel, but my goal is to photograph the community in which I live – in detail.
Port Townsend is a tourist destination. Lovely Victorian buildings, views of Puget Sound, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the Olympic and Cascade mountains make this a picturesque community. I don’t recreate postcard images, rather I strive to explore the richness of a vibrant community, to look under the gloss and reveal the depth and diversity of this interesting town and environs.
