Fall comes and flowers fade. It’s time to start putting the garden to bed for the winter. Here we mulch the trees and shrubs to protect them from cold.

This male Western Lowland Gorilla (named Pete) is munching on a tree branch. He seemed satisfied with chewing on the wood. There were no leaves to eat. Our friend Elizabeth grew this monster and wanted a photo. This is one enormous beet. I’ve never seen the like, so thought it worth sharing.
