American Widgeon

I’ve been shooting a lot of close up shots in the garden. I don’t want my indoor plants to feel neglected.

Star trails in the southern sky

Our Daffodils are blooming
We planted 300 daffodil bulbs last fall. About two thirds of them are coming up. Most haven’t bloomed yet, but we’re appreciating the color of the ones that have. Fortunately, since these are outside the fence, deer don’t eat them.

Marauding deer
Deer are pretty animals. Each year we see more and more of them. Tourists will often tie up traffic to stop and watch them. For locals they are mostly pests. Notice the fence around the yard these critters are passing. Almost any serious gardener in town has to fence deer out or risk losing valuable plants.

Produce sold at Colinwood Farm
Colinwood Farm grows organic produce near the corner of San Juan and F Streets. In the summer the produce stand there overflows with vegetable goodness. Even in the winter months the farm manages to keep stock available. Produce is sold via an honor system payment box. This is definitely not the big city.
