Glacier Spirit

The Glacier Spirit, run by Puget Sound Express, takes tours to the San Juan Islands and runs occasional charters to Protection Island. It’s in Point Hudson for this photo.
Night Fisher

I was lucky to even see this bird. The evening was actually darker than the photo and I was focused on taking pictures of Point Hudson, which was on the other side of the dock. Fortunately the bird stood still for the 15 seconds the exposure took.
Landslide on Larry Scott Trail

This slough (rhymes with tough), or small landslide, on the bluff above the Larry Scott Trail reminds us that the cliffs around Port Townsend are not made of rock but of highly compacted silt. After the heavy rains early last week, this section of bluff slid down, creating a giant bird’s nest out of the displaced blackberry vines.
