The Sweetgum is a common street tree that grows well in this area. It’s medium sized and has brilliant fall color, which ranges from maroon to orange. I find the botanical name, liquidambar, quite delightful. Pronounced, it sounds like liquid amber and offers echos of sweet syrup.
