Driving down the hill between our two supermarkets you get a great view of Port Townsend Bay and the North Cascades across the water.
After a record warm and sunny summer, autumn has blown in with a vengeance. Temperatures have dropped 10-15 degrees, and clouds bring a penetrating, damp cold, which a stiff breeze forces into every opening in clothing.
It’s just starting to get light in the morning and these women are headed out to practice their rowing. As you would expect in a seaside town with an active population and a protected bay, it’s pretty common to see rowing sculls like this on the water.
I just love the Virginia Creeper vines that adorn the walls of the Food Co-op. Each fall they put on quite a display of color.
Last weekend was the annual Art Port Townsend Artist’s Studio Tour. This year K didn’t include her studio, though she has in the past. Anyway, here’s one artist’s project.
This small cruise ship docked in Port Townsend yesterday. It carries just over 200 passengers so doesn’t swamp the town the way larger cruise ships can. After seeing what some Alaska coastal cities are like when the big boats dock, I’m happy with things the way they are.
